his nice, curly hair, slightly unkempt beard, nice dreamy eyes, nice voice etc... he's always my mcdreamy! whooo.... haha.. sorry! i just finished season 4 of grey's.. i realli like it.. you don't get hardcore medical stuff (i get that from house m.d), but you get a nice interplay of the complexity of relationships, and handsome guys like my mcdreamy!!! :P

ok enough of oogling... i'm gonna fly solo in the lab from next week onwards! gotta plan my own project (for the whole year, not just 1 expt), gotta plan my studies.. if i do my masters here, and go overseas to do my phD, it'll take 6 years minimum.. but if i go overseas immediately for the phD programme (without doing masters here), it'll only take 4 years! saves me alot of time! but i'm not sure whether i have enough time to apply and take all the necessary exams.. and most of all, i'll have to borrow ALOT of money just to take the exams.. any nice pple out there wanna lend me moolah?? haha.. it's confusing! and prof is not ard.. so this qn will linger with me for 2 more weeks.. i wonder if furthering my studies is a good idea.. it's a big HUGE decision, and i'm realli uncertain abt it.. it's scary isn't it.. at 22 you need to take this crucial step which would determine the rest of your life..

it's all about choices.. follow your mind!







i was telling ben today that i'm trying to figure out how to spend enough time in the lab, factor God into my life, spend time with loved ones, do things that i like etc.. he said, "just do one thing. factor God into your life". i felt really encouraged when i heard it :) i must have faith and confidence in God's providence.. nothing will ever be right if i don't walk with Him, but if i do, He'll make me a path.. it may be challenging, but i noe i'll be able to pull through, because i have Him..

working in the lab is very labourous, and that's prob the understatement of the year.. talked to prof abt my FYP today.. a very exciting research topic i would say! everything is novel, so prob have to do a lot of optimization, but if all turns out well, my project has a potential for publications.. aim high! so at least you'll have something to fall back on if you dun hit your target :) i'll try my best to focus and work hard.. i hope that this post would remind me of how determined i am at the beginning of my FYP, so 10mths later when i read this again, i can find some strength :)







guess what caused it? liquid nitrogen.. :( it's painful and itchy at the same time..

anw, today marks the last day of working this week.. got lots of readings to do.. have writing assignment due, and gotta plan for my independent experiment next week.. i'll be doing my own western blot! from homogenization to preparing of reagents and gel to taking the film in the dark room.. i'm both excited and nervous!

this week of lab has been really insightful.. i'm tired after a week of work, can you imagine me doing it for the rest of my life? haha.. i guess i realli need to find the internal drive that would sustain me.. :) this is where i admire prof ip. like what eugene said, it's realli remarkable how prof can still be so passionate about his work after doing it for 26 years.. that's really something i need to learn from him, on top of MANY MANY MANYYYYYYYYYYYYYY other things...

just a quick update on first day at work :)

well, it was a busy day.. had a lot of things to familiarize with, but on the whole it was quite fulfilling.. i'm looking forward to tmr, but i have quite a lot of reading to catch up with..

i'm already behind time on the first day! ahha..

end of exams.. i haf 2 days of rest, den work starts in the lab.. actually, i don't haf absolute rest for the next 2 days becoz i gotta read up on stuff.. ah well.. at least i can sleep in peace..

we're all moving on to different roads in life... shelley and chuan are graduating, sab bel and i we're doing honors, ben's doing his minor.. we'll see less and less of each other.. but still, i wish the people who're graduating all the best! :) must update your blogs so that we can still noe what's going on in your life..



this sem is depressing...
eco paper was such a disaster.. totally demoralised me to rock-bottom..
and i spent the last 2 days doing unproductive mugging for my human physio paper..

now, i must ditch that module and mug for my animal physio instead..
i onli end exams on fri.. everyone's almost done already!

depressed... what can i do to salvage my grades now?
